“Novelty Hill wines are the work of Mike Januik, one of Washington’s most acclaimed winemakers. With the goal of remaining true to the grape, Mike hand-crafts our wines one barrel at a time for richness and balance to capture the finest expression of the fruit, our growing region and when a particular site deserves showcasing, the vineyard. The first rule of winemaking is that behind every great wine, there is a great vineyard. The second rule is that behind every great vineyard, there is a winemaker who gives the grapes maximum latitude to strut their stuff. Mike Januik is such a winemaker, and he’s proven that over the course of almost 20 vintages in Washington state. His years of winemaking in the Columbia Valley have given him experience with vineyards throughout the region only a handful of winemakers in the state can rival. He’s brought this background to Novelty Hill, sourcing grapes from some of the best vineyards in the state and bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to our own vineyard plantings at Stillwater Creek.”
