90 Points - Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com - “Note: from vines planted between 1937 and 1942 Producer note: Régis Forey describes the 2014 vintage as "much less challenging than 2013 and really other than the Suzukii flies there wasn't all that much to complain about. I was worried about the flies though and in my parcel of Les St. Georges I installed a huge fan to blow them away! It worked surprisingly well as they don't like wind. I chose to begin picking on the 13th of September and brought in clean and reasonably ripe fruit that averaged between 12 and 12.5% in terms of potential alcohols. The stems were mostly ripe and clean as well and I used around 40% whole clusters for every cuvée. Partially because of the presence of the whole clusters and partially because I wanted to make more elegant wines I did very little in the way of punching down. As to the wines they are elegant while offering an interesting interplay between finesse and tension. They're not super dense but I very much like the round and fleshy textures as well as the balance. When these aspects are combined you have wines that should drink well in their youth and in any event almost certainly before their 2013 counterparts." Forey noted that his 2013s, revisited below, were bottled between January and March 2015. He further noted that they were bottled with close to 800 ml of CO2 so he strongly recommends that they be decanted first. Tasting note: Once again there is a note of herbal tea present on the nose of red currant, cherry, earth and soft game scents. There is good freshness and a lovely sense of underlying tension to the detailed and mineral-inflected medium weight flavors that possess a supple, indeed even tender palate impression. I like the balance and this is unusually forward and thus should be one of the more approachable wines young for those who might not have the patience to wait.”
