“The vines that were planted in 1947 are a selection that Nicolas finds very special. 1947 was right after the war and it was difficult to get cuttings. But Nicolas's grandfather worked for Henriot at the time, and was able to get cuttings through them. It's a selection that produces really yellow gold berries (modern chardonnay comes into the winery green, whether it is ripe or not). They are big bunches but there are not many of them, and they are superb.”
