“The wine is a single-vineyard selection from Lorcher Seligmayer, a steep slope located just where the Rhine river exits the Rheingau region and turns north toward the Mittelrhein. The grapes grow in hillside vineyards of stony slate and quartzite, which help capture and retain heat in this otherwise chilly sub-region. The wine is a firm and generous Rheingauer, balanced beautifully with excellent concentration. An inexpensive wine that manages to taste expensive, this is one of those opportunities that one has to be on the ground in Germany to find and seize it when it comes along. Alc 12%, 7.6 RS, and 7.7 acidity.”
