“Le Petit Haut Lafitte offers a clear, brilliant, deep dark red colour. The first nose is relatively discreet, but opens up quickly on aeration, revealing notes of red and black fruits (raspberries, blackberries and blackcurrants), hints of spices, liquorice, cedar, tobacco and a touch of smoke, typical of our Güntzian gravel soil. The wine is firm and dynamic on the palate, with good tannic structure, an attractive texture and a lovely, smooth somehow delicate sweetness impression. The length is pronounced and frank, with a good concentration and rich, ripe flavours. Le Petit Haut Lafitte expresses its full aromatic potential in the ripe fruits and spices typical of Cabernet Sauvignon: blackberries, liquorice, star anise, thyme, cedar, vanilla, flint.”
